Giuliani (1781-1829)
was a most important Italian guitarist. He established his guitar study and career in
Vienna and was the greatest guitar virtuoso of his time. In Vienna he played with
well-known musicians like Diabelli, and performed some solo guitar recitals. In 1819
Giuliani returned to Italy and settled in Rome where he continued to give recitals. His
daughter Emillia was also a talented guitarist and so they performed together in Italy,
Vienna and Paris. Giuliani composed 300 guitar works including some concertos for guitar
and orchestra.
