The New Music Educational Project My Ancient Harp Basic Knowledge

Guitar Fingers style
At this point we focus on plucking a single string. Therefore we can now teach the students to strum with the thumb and two fingers - but only separately.
We give the fingers of the plucking hand, the same numbers used for guitar:
The thumb can simply be called thumb, and it will usually play string no.
The index finger is called finger no. 2, and it will usually play string no.
The finger that will usually play string no. 1 will be called finger no.

When this program is used to teach third graders and up we can teach the students the accepted terminology for the fingers of the plucking hand: Thumb: P, index finger: i, middle finger: m
